After six volunteer health-care workers were shot dead while administering polio vaccines, Pakistan has suspended its anti-polio drive in the province of Sindh until the safety of workers can be assured. The Taliban have not claimed responsibility for the killings, although they have been know to oppose such immunization programs in the past.
In other news, Muslim leaders in Britain are demanding that the Islamic community be made exempt from the new law permitting same-sex marriage.
