Beaches in New Jersey and New York have been devastated, the tunnels and subway in New York City were flooded, and falling trees crushed cars and houses in Manhattan and Long Island. Millions of people are still without electricity across the Northeast.

In other news, a Scottish archaeologist working on Baffin Island far above the Arctic Circle has uncovered definitive evidence that the Vikings once visited the island.
