Upon her arrival in Athens, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was greeted by more than 40,000 demonstrators who took to the street to protest the austerity measures being demanded by the EU and the IMF. Some of the protesters expressed their sentiments by burning a Nazi flag in front of the Greek parliament.

In other news, the wife of recently extradited Sheikh Abu “Hooky” Hamza has been forced to leave the family’s £1 million council house in west London. Mrs. Hamza can, however, appeal the decision.

Meanwhile, Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen says that NATO will do whatever it takes to defend Turkey if the latter were to go to war against Syria.
